So I WAS running Windows 7 and I was considering starting a board with Mud on it. Then.. separate from that, I decided that for my own personal use, screw Windows.
I still would like to start a board. I have WINE (Windows emulator) and I am using Mint Cinnamon. (If that info helps).
Obviously I have access to all the files (as the are ALL either posted here or on the Majormud FB page.)

Is there ANYONE with experience with installing this on Linux that would help me get this going? Megamud BARELY works using WINE. I can't imagine Worldgroup wouldn't have hiccups, so any advice, even a step by step, would be VERY helpful.
Worldgroup, Majormud and hosting them on Linux!
Re: Worldgroup, Majormud and hosting them on Linux!
wg will not run in wine best bet is to setup a vm of win xp and installing wg and mud in that in linux
Re: Worldgroup, Majormud and hosting them on Linux!
also with mega you may need to install the ms fonts on linux forget the name of font files but they are in the repo and adjust font settings in mega have mine set to ubuntu mono for font seems to be a good one
Re: Worldgroup, Majormud and hosting them on Linux!
Your only option is a virtual machine running a Windows OS. I'm in the process of setting just such a thing up now on a dedicated server since there's no other way. I'm using VirtualBox + PHPVirtualBox (since the server is headless) then connecting to the Windows 2003 server instance via RDP. Locally it would even be easier to accomplish since you'll have a GUI available. On a side note if I actually decide to run a live board this way I'd actually like to hand it off to an experienced operator to maintain.
