Room edit doesn't stick

I have an exit in newhaven arena that goes into a kobold den with a two-headed kobold. I edited a line in the room description saying there is a hole in the iron gate to the west, and when they type "go hole" it takes them into the den.

It works for a little while, and then my edit disappears. The description is removed, and the "go hole" command doesn't work anymore. I remembered to save my edit in Nightmare, so I don't know why it doesn't stick. Has this happened to anyone else before?

you need to compile when ya edit do your edit then compile
once you do your edit hit tools then compile update file compile full update file
or can hit F8 key also do a offline recovery so new edit is in right away

Or you blank out your update file, and do the edit's straight to the actual files. I have an extra VM I do all the edits on then export/import to the actual game files.

Basically what's happening you are editing the game files but you have an update file that erases your edits after it's done loading it.
