Help with BBS being inaccessible due to PSQL

Post by oz999 »

I usually don't like posting pretty much anywhere, but have run out of options. I have just a few days left before my PSQL license expires and everywhere anyone asks this question it is either not responded to, or with the 1 that was responded to, the link was old.
It had a link to a text file which no longer exists anywhere, even with the original poster, who I messaged.

I have PSQL 9.5 and I followed the instructions from another thread here from years back, and the code listed turned out to be a permanent workgroup code only, the server code was trial only, so it is stuck in trial mode. I have searched every available thing usenet/bt/web search/reddit/ftp/scene sites/etc. and have found nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want to lose my board with all the work I put into it, even a point or hint to the right direction.

Curious what does your License Administrator look like? BTW the key that is floating around on this site only works properly if you start with PSQL V8 and then upgrade to V9 as it is a V8 key.

As evident by the following screenshot.

It looks exactly the same except it says 9 instead of 8 and workgroup permanent, same server temporary 20 user count exp 4/3/25. Is there an easy way to drop it down to 8 again and then upgrade without having to lose stuff.

Yeah, it hit the dreaded "BTRIEVE OPEN ERROR 161 ON FILE "wgserv2.dat". I had hope that it would still work after midnight due to the workgroup license, as it launched fine and worked for about 45 mins. But I had to fix the globals that I had been neglecting, that stopped working after the upgrade.
I relaunched the board and error 161.

I looked all over the net for PSQL 8 to no avail. I used every site/search engine/ftp indexer/scene site/old software site/wayback machine, and nothing. Only thing I ended up with was links that were no longer accessible due to needing a login which is no longer possible.
All I know is a couple file names PSQL8COMP.EXE and PSQL8WIN2K.EXE.

Don't know what to do at this point, if someone doesn't have a PSQL8 trial download. Also found another key on the net but again it was only for 8 and didn't work but it did say permanent server this time.
