Changing WG-NT reg number

Post by Shadoron »

I have a board running that I've made a ton of custom changes to (ANSI menus, custom text color, etc). I need to change the reg number for the BBS. I have the correct activation code for the new reg number, just don't know how to do this without losing all my edits. I know for MajorBBS you could overwrite the majorbbs.exe file with the one from the installation source, and it would prompt for your activation key again. Is there any trick like this for NT? Or is there one file that contains the reg info? I could dump a backup of my current BBS onto a fresh copy, as long as I know which file to not overwrite.

A) why do you need to change it? Just curious.

B) The reg number is derived from the activation code, not the other way around. So you should just be able to change the activation code.

Acquired a new system that has access to software my old system didn't. It relates to an interesting idea I've had for the past year, which I can now move forward on. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I'll make a post about it in the coming days. It's nothing mind blowing, just something no BBS out there has done yet, at least to my knowledge.

And, I figured out all you need to do is reinstall WG-NT over itself to be able to re-enter the activation key. It will merge any edits on it's own.

You could have just changed the activation code in the settings. Oh well.

Really? I didn't even think to look in the security and accounting settings.
