I've brought my board, UtopiaBBS.com, back online again.

Not that it matters these days, but it's a fully registered, legit copy of Worldgroup 3.30 and MajorMUD with Mods 1-9 and MajorMUD Plus.

The BBS is currently online and MUD is accessible. Feel free to logon and play around.

The game will be reset Sunday 9/7/14 @ 12:00 noon Eastern time to give everyone a fair start.

Since the original BBS was over 10 years old, I deleted everything and created a new board from scratch.

The rules are posted on the BBS, but the general info is:

2 accounts per IP (your spouse, roommate, dog, sex-slave, etc can logon from somewhere else).

PVP is set to +/- 10 levels.

MajorMUD 1.11p - beta 13

Evil points are sped up slightly... 2 EP's per 90 minutes, max 30 per day.

I've also got BladeMaster (which by the way doesn't work in MegaMUD, you have to use the built in Windows telnet). Windows XP comes with it pre-installed, if you're using Windows 7 you need to go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, then select "Turn Windows features on or off" on the left side column. You'll see Telnet Client on that list, check the box and you'll be able to use Telnet.exe from Run or the command prompt.

Is Blademaster a custom class? If so, why use telnet? Does MegaMUD have problems working with custom made races and classes? The only thing I would think would be off is it's experience table - since it would calculate that from it's built-in races and classes?

I am interested in learning more about this - I want to put up a BBS with MajorMUD eventually and I was thinking about making some edits.

Check out this link, it describes how to enable Telnet in Windows 8.

I don't have Windows 8 so I can't test it out, but it looks very similar to the way it's done in Windows 7.

I have Windows 8.1 and I can confirm that ExtraPuTTy will work if you want to play Blademaster.

It has a whole lot of options so it can look a little scary at first, but all you need to do is cut/paste UtopiaBBS.com into the host name field and then change the connection type to "Telnet" and then click the "Open" button.

Been playing here on Utopia for a month or so, good user-base and lims available! Could use some more players, although there seems to be 25-30 active players now. No, I'm not associated with the board in any way, just a regular player, so this is an un-biased bump. Stop by and check it out if you're looking for somewhere to play with an "active" realm!
