Mega Equipping Weapons

Post by Corvette »

On some of my characters MegaMud (v1.03u) will always attempt to equip my weapon at the start of combat. I am not using any alternate weapons.

-Using v1.03u
-Settings/combat tab has correct weapon listed
-No alternate or backstab weapons are entered
-If I put auto equip under the items, MegaMud will attempt to equip the weapon endlessly
-What might I have set wrong?

So far I have seen this with: nexus spear, golden pike and wicked bone scythe

This happens when you try to equip two-handed weapons... at some point, they changed the way having a two-handed weapon equipped appears in your inventory (i.e. they changed it from "<weapon name> (equipped)" to "<weapon name> (Two Handed)" or something of the sort). Being a third-party program, Megamud was not updated to reflect this change, so it thinks you don't have a weapon equipped when it sees the newer display format, but still knows you have the weapon in your inventory and keeps trying to equip it.

For non-backstabbing characters, just manually equip the weapon you want your character to use and leave your "normal weapon" slot blank in combat settings (or type in a bunch of random characters if leaving it blank doesn't work). This should make it so Megamud will never see a weapon it thinks you want equipped, so it won't try to equip anything. It might also help to set up a message response making you equip the weapon if it sees you trying to attack with your fists just in case you forget to equip the weapon at some point.

For backstabbing characters using separate weapons for BS's and normal attacks with at least one of them being two-handed, message responses have to be set up to guarantee the correct weapon gets equipped.

Thanks, putting in the random characters worked. Sometimes the monsters were almost getting an extra round from the attempted equipping. Putting it blank caused it to un-equip on occasion.
