Just trying to work out the actual effects of protection from evil / good. I’ve heard people say it is equivalent to AC but I can’t find any verification of this or any data around it..

It is exactly equal to AC, well...

PREV is equal to ac when cast, and on items when equipped, by/on good players. PREV does not work neutral or evil. It does not show up in the AC slot in the stat screen but it is there.
PRGD is broken.
