Length of a Single Round

How long is a single round?

It's pretty difficult to wrap my head around how long spells last in real time when all I can see is a "number of rounds" in mmud explorer. It seems to me that a round is 4 or 5 seconds long...

..so take Large Silvery Cross, for example. Boasts a buff listed in mmud explorer as having a 600 round duration. Assuming 4 seconds per round, that's 2400 seconds, divided by 60 seconds to give me 40 minutes? Does it really last 40 minutes?

Knowing this would be incredibly helpful for setting a megamud event to cast a spell, or for the party buff spell timer.

It does depend on lag, but I think it's 6 seconds. I can be wrong.
