Router config help please

I reinstalled WG and majormud running on a VM of windows xp pro and using a new router provided from cox cable which is a Cisco dcp3825 gateway modem/ router combo and I can't for the life of me get it to accept incoming connections can someone please help I don't remember my last router being this big of a pain in the ass.

does your VM have its own IP?

Every time I have to set up another router I always forget to assign a specific ip to the server itself. Just a thought.
Maybe if you give a short summary of what you've done so far.
