Installing MajorMUD on Windows 7.

Anybody have any info on installing majormud on windows 7? When i try to run SETUP.EXE i get the following error:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
I've tried all the different compatibility modes and none of them work. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume that's the setup for majormud you're talking about and not WG? You should just be able to unzip the files into your WG directory and then configure it from the menus.

Correct. I got WG installed fine but when i try to install MM i get that error. All i'm really after is the *.dat files for NMR. When i unzip the archives all i get are .VIR files.

Well I can't say for sure because it has been so many years since I've messed with the game, but I think you may be able to just copy *.vir *.dat.

Unfortunately that just errors. I also don't see an option for installing it through WG either. I might just have to find an old 98/XP system to do it on.

That will work. I used XP Mode in w7 to install wg/mud/fu globals/control etc... installed WG on my windows 7 machine and then copied the whole WGSERV directory from my xp mode VM to my W7 machine and it works like a charm.
