Generative AI & MajorMUD

I occasionally try talking to generative AI about MajorMUD which generally sucked, confusing MajorMUD for all MUD's. The other day I was talking to Gemma-1.1-7b-it, and it wasn't bad, especially for such a small model. Years ago I converted the game's database to SQLite (thanks to Nightmare Redux) a...

Re: Old Newhaven?

From current cave bear you used to be able to go NW or E. 2157 is the old NW branch that goes down to old cave bear. I can't find the old junction or the short dead end to the east. Jiggs Longthorne called it Smelly Lair on his map. I ran; SELECT * FROM Rooms WHERE Name LIKE '%smelly%'; I got nothin...

Re: Old Newhaven?

You are a freaking legend! At 2157/1 I can see the Old Mineshaft and follow it down to the Murky Depths where the Cave Bear used to be. I'm having trouble finding the east exit that leads to the 'Smelly Lair'. Old Newhaven seems to be 2157-2170 and 2192-2214. Most of the rooms in the range seem to b...

Old Newhaven?

Does anyone know the last version of the game that had old Newhaven with the multi level cave? I lost my really old MajorMUD stuff way back. I think it was Mod8 that changed it, so is there a dat viewer for 1.11b and older?

Bash W

Back in the day on a paid local BBS Cujo/Wonslung was a relentless killer. He drove so many people off the board the SYSOP said if he attacked first again he'd get banned. So he'd run people with Wonslung a bit, then tell them there was a secret door they could 'bash w'. There was no west, so they w...

Song of a Bard - Wulalowe Silvermane

This is a poem from an ancient parchment, item #1566. Dead cat from Rhudaur sewers as a weapon is always humorous. Oh hidy didy didy di, Oh hidy didy didy day Gather round and you shall hear, About a man who show no fear Killian the smallest brave, A Halfling, who went to save A beautiful maiden in ...

Re: Big Map

Ohh going thru the DB can be a nightmare, esp when trying to standardize the code. I remember when I tried to use mud data for my mud game I was pulling my hair out cause of all the weird edge cases. Working with the db is the one area I feel confident. I have a bit of SQL experience from running a...

Re: Big Map

Pretty dang cool. I gotta thank you again. Nightmare being able to export an Access db allowed me to convert it to SQLite, which allowed me to read from it in Godot. https://i.imgur.com/njlWlYK.png All the white cubes are blobs of room data being read from the SQLite db. Next up would be defining z...

Sorry, I've been learning as I go, so the code is almost as janky as the model. It's just nice to hear it worked for someone. I wanted to make it small, and with Godot it's only 31mb.
