MajorMUD: 1.11p with Worldgroup 2.0?
MajorMUD: 1.11p with Worldgroup 2.0?
Sorry if this has been answered somewhere - I constantly try to search this board but every search phrase I come up with tells me the terms are too common.
Looking at this page:
http://www.gcommarchive.com/downloads/majormud.cfm
It shows MajorMUD 1.11e being the last non-NT (3.0?) version. Can anyone confirm the last version absolutely possibly for Worldgroup 2.0 under DOS? Is it possible to run 1.11p under WG 2.0? The majormud website seems vague and the program documentation seems to suggest that it can be possible to run the latest 1.11p on WG 2.0.
When I try to run WCCMMUTL (1.11p) through the BBS (WG 2.0), the entire BBS freezes. If i try to run WCCMMUTL through command line, it tells me it needs the 286 phar lap extender. I've tried some extenders to load the EXE but no luck yet.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Re: MajorMUD: 1.11p with Worldgroup 2.0?
Hey bloodrock - thanks for the replies.
With WG 2.0 and MajorMUD 1.11e, I can run WCCMMUTL fine through the "Add On Utilities" on the main WG menu without any probs. If I try to run WCCMMUTL 1.11e strictly through command line, I must first load "BTRIEVE.EXE /P:2048" and then it will come up.
With MajorMUD 1.11p, I'm still struggling in getting it to work with anything other than Worldgroup 3.0.
I'm almost certain that MajorBBS 6.25 will only support up to MajorMUD 1.11e but I'm curious about Worldgroup 2.0 since documentation seems to suggest that later version of Majormud will run on it.

Re: MajorMUD: 1.11p with Worldgroup 2.0?
prob gotta find a copy of none nt version??? of 1.11p as i remember they used to make 3 version a nt a dos and a none nt i could be wrong
Re: MajorMUD: 1.11p with Worldgroup 2.0?
Yeah I was wondering about that - if there were non-NT releases for each version. All I've seen on the net is the NT-version. If so then there may be hope after all.
Re: MajorMUD: 1.11p with Worldgroup 2.0?
Been searching all day - I can't find anything non-NT past 1.11e for MajorMUD. Anyone out there have the install packages (just demo license) for any MajorMUD version greater than 1.11e?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Can't help you with the main question, but I expanded the search capabilities of the board.rytz wrote:Sorry if this has been answered somewhere - I constantly try to search this board but every search phrase I come up with tells me the terms are too common.

Well it's only been almost 4 years, but I've got MajorMUD 1.11p running under MS DOS 6.22 with Worldgroup 2.0. It didn't actually take me a 4 years... just some time to get back around to figuring out the problems.
I'm working with the WG version, non-NT. Definitely some hurdles involved. A bit of luck. A bit of DLL hacking.
The last version of the MBBS DOS release that I've come across is 1.11g, file name of WCCDS7PW.ZIP. The file names have the syntax as follows:
WCC[DS-WG-NT][###].ZIP
... where ### is the version number. DS is MajorBBS DOS version, WG for Worldgroup 1-2 (incompatible with 3), and NT for the Windows NT version.
I have a full set of notes from installation and DLL hacking. Let me know if you you would like me to post them to the board.
Also, is there a way to confirm that the add-on packages are correctly registered? The popular keygen for 1.11p-NT standard license key doesn't work, but MM Plus seems to work. I wanted to confirm Mods 1-9 are working correctly - is there a way without manually entering those areas in the game?
Thanks!
