Is it possible to change the user-ID (not the descriptive name) of a MBBS/WG account?

I know we can change the names of MUD chars associated with those accounts.

I have not found a way myself, but maybe thru editing the user file it's self(wgusr2.dat).

Damn. I had asked sysops in the past and that was always the answer.

I was hoping maybe there was an add-on that would extend sysop features. I'll keep poking around.

If the names (strings) themselves are the connective ID, then changing the database directly may cause problems across other parts of the system.

What are you ultimately trying to do?

I want to change a Worldgroup user-ID / name without recreating the account. I'm assuming the method would update all aspects of the system as well (add-ons, etc).
