WCCMMUD.INI: SYS_RELOAD_KEY
Hi: I've got a local board set up and have the SYS MAP/GOTO stuff set up correctly for standard users. I've noticed that setting SYS_RELOAD_KEY in the INI (to SYSOP in my case) has no effect in preventing a standard MAP/GOTO user from doing a SYS RELOAD. I tested/confirmed that a user doing this com...

Re: Anyone tried to host mud from linux?
Some good news on the Linux front: I spent the last week or so trying to get a stable VM of MS-DOS with WG2.0/MMUD up and running. I tried VirtualBox, VMWare, DosBox, DosEmu, QEmu and different versions from each. The only one that has solid networking and is fast and stable enough is QEmu, surprisi...

Re: Worldgroup 2.0: Random Crashes
If it's vbox, try to play with the acceleration tab there is a few settings in there that older OS don't get. I honestly have been trying everything with regards to settings and versions to narrow it down for the past week or so. VirtualBox is the fastest of the big 3 dos emulators (DosBox, VMWare,...

Re: MajorMUD: 1.11p with Worldgroup 2.0?
This information details how I was able to get the Worldgroup (WG) version of MajorMUD 1.11p (Non-NT), installed on Worldgroup 2.0. Originally, I wanted to get MajorMUD 1.11p with MajorBBS 6.25 (MBBS) running, but I could never find a MBBS version of MajorMUD past 1.11g (WCCDS7PW.ZIP). I settled for...

Re: Anyone tried to host mud from linux?
There's an advantage, in my opinion, to being able to run a DOS version of MajorMUD on Linux in that you don't have to worry about the overhead of installing Windows on a VM or dealing with WINE issues. DosBox will also run MajorMUD through MBBS/WG. Haven't tried DOSEMU yet. And there's always somet...
